Friday 16th December 2016

Julien enjoyed learning different names of things in his bedroom last week, so I went over these again to see if he remembered which he did. I then put them into sentences eg. close the door, throw the ball, play the guitar. He then gave me the orders and I checked him for pronunciation.

This week we'll go back over those short sentences. Last week he made a trap on Minecraft, so this week I have a video for him which explains how to make 10 different traps. I also have another video which shows 5 things to make on Minecraft for beginners. He might find that interesting.

2nd December 2016

Julien is still very much into Minecraft so we'll use this to learn different words and expressions about the game.

He likes blowing up stuff, so he was learning phrases like, I want to make an explosion with TNT, I need more TNT, It's getting dark, I need to go inside etc. He learns ways to communicate through simple converstaion while playing. Oh look, hold on a minute, just one minute. Don't move! I need a weapen or a sword, I need food etc.

We had an extra hour this week so he showed me Clash of Clans, but there wasn't much opportunity to learn english so I got out my post-it pad and I wrote different vocabulary and stuck it to objects in his bedroom. I played a game where he would point to the object that I said. He took all the notes off the objects and I tried him to see if he remembered the names of the objects. This was a fun activity to end the lesson.

14th November

Julien informed me he loves MineCraft video game and would love to incorporate this with learning english, so I downloaded the application on my ipad and so we're going to learn prepositions, eg. Put a block behind this block, ontop, under, to the right/left, beside etc. He'll learn the different blocks in english.

We'll watch some clips from Lord of the Rings. I'll ask him questions at the end.

4th November

I asked Julien if he had a good Halloween
We watched several clips from Starwars as he loves these films.

At the end of each lesson we talk about what he likes so that I can get some teaching ideas for the following week to help keep his interest. He loves Minecraft, the video game, so I promised him we'll spend 5 or 10 minutes talking about Minecraft the following week.

14th October

We watched clips from Pirates of the Caribbean and listened carefully to try and understand what was being said. I repeated the sentences and Julien repeated them after me. I gave him examples if he needed help with understanding and I asked him for some examples to make sure he understood.
